Welcome to Coastal Tours & Safaris!
Based in Cape Agulhas, the southernmost tip of the African continent, Coastal Tours offer you unique guided eco tours along the coast, traveling through the scenic Agulhas National Park, visiting any of the Cape Nature reserves in the area or enjoy the hospitality of the locals on some of the historic farm yards and villages - hidden away between the coast and the Cape Fold Mountains!
Coastal Tours has a government permit to drive along the coast in order to get to historic archaeological sites (i.e. 2000 yr old culture historical shell middens & fish traps) - and revel in serenity of nature!
Along the coast you could see some of the rare SA coastal birds like the Caspian terns, cormorants, sandpipers, white fronted plovers and the endangered African black oyster.
Marine mammals such as dolphins and seals occur in the waters off the coast - and the southern right whales mate and calve in the sheltered bays between June and December.
The Overberg is the heart of the well known Cape Floral Kingdom - mostly comprising the well known fynbos vegetation (fine leafed scrubland). Although it is the smallest plant kingdom in the world, it has an amazing 9000 species.
The Agulhas light house (1849) is the southernmost light house in Africa - and houses the light house museum as well as a restaurant - and is the meeting place of the Indian and Atlantic oceans!
This region also boasts more than 300 bird species with at least 20 endemic species. This diversity echoes the varying habitats available to birds in our area!
